3. What are the objectives of COP25?

The COP25 is the last stop towards the entry into force of the Paris Agreement, in 2020, whose headquarters will be the city of Santiago de Chile. President Sebastián Piñera said: “This summit will be a great opportunity for Chile and the world in general to really recognize the fact that time is running out and that the growing urgency of our objectives requires us to be more ambitious and demand more from ourselves. The moment to act has come”. At the COP25 launch ceremony, the main topics to be covered during the summit were announced, including the oceans, Antarctica, renewable energies, the circular economy, ecosystems, biodiversity and electromobility.
