2. What is the role of Costa Rica in COP25?

After the resignation of Brazil to host the COP25, Costa Rica and Chile agreed to jointly organize the event. The proposal was accepted in the plenary session of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change. Costa Rica has the opportunity this year to demonstrate its ambition for climate action. The Central American country will host the Pre-COP in October 8 to 10, 2019, which will bring together the parties to discuss the policies prior to the COP25, which will be held in Santiago, Chile, from December 2 to 13, 2019. In this preparatory meeting Costa Rica expects more than 350 people, including the heads of each of the delegations of the countries that are party to the Conference.
