4. Why is COP23 headed by two countries?

Bonn is the host city of the UNFCCC, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and will be the one that provides the physical spaces and other resources necessary for its realization. Fiji is a small Pacific island state, located in the Polynesian Islands, and one of the most vulnerable sites in the face of the possible effects of climate change. Fiji assumed the presidency of COP23 determined to maintain the energy of the Paris Agreement, adopted in 2015 and the effort to reduce carbon emissions and consequently global warming.
